Muriel Smith

Muriel Smith, daughter of Paris Thomas and Gladys Thomas, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, at 9 pm CST. She was 87. She was at home with her daughter, Suzan Devon Presley, and sister, Linda Thomas. 

Muriel Devon Thomas was born in Fries, Virginia on April 10, 1937, to Paris Leondath Thomas and Laura Gladys Parks Thomas. Muriel was a mother and an academic. Her daughter enjoyed conversations about world events and cultures. She excelled in interior design so much so, that she was approached by "Southern Living."

Muriel is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton E Smith Jr., son, Clifton E Smith III, and daughter, Elizabeth Ann Smith. Muriel is survived by a daughter, Suzan D. Presley and three grandchildren, Mark Presley, Patrick Smith, and Bradly Smith. She also leaves 2 sisters, Juanita Thomas Wilkerson and Linda Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

Muriel will be missed by so many for her selflessness and the love she showed towards everyone.

A graveside service will be held at a later time.
