HUDSON MSG James H. Hudson, Jr., US Army Ret., 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Augusta, Georgia on Monday, October 11, 2010. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC on March 26, 1944 to James Henry Hudson and Kathryn Banner Hudson. Jimmy graduated from Mineral Springs High School where he was a captain of the basketball team. He was selected to the All-Northwest NC All Star basketball team his senior year. He served in the US Army for 25 years where he received numerous medals and awards. He retired with the rank of master sergeant. His overseas tours of duty include Vietnam, Okinawa, Germany, Turkey and Korea. After retiring from the Army, he was employed with the US government for over 20 years. He spent most of those years working in Korea. He recently served as commander of VFW Post 10033 in Taegu, Korea. Mr. Hudson was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are his devoted wife, Han; his mother, Kathryn Hudson of Winston-Salem; daughters, Anna Clark of Harrisburg, Oregon, Susan Grubbs (Davey) of Clemmons; grandchildren, Amber Clark, Matt Grubbs, Kayla Grubbs and Austin Grubbs. Other survivors include three brothers, Steve Hudson (Becky) of Clemmons, Gary Hudson (Joyce) of Clemmons, Danny Hudson (Kathy) of Pfafftown and two sisters, Kathy Carter (Lindsey) of Walnut Cove and Karen Welborn (Scotty) of Thomasville. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Minister Tim Lively officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
