Ms. Willie Mae Reeves, 66, of Winston-Salem, died peacefully Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born October 13, 1942 in Jacksonville, Alabama, to James and Mary Elizabeth Tompkins Reeves. Willie's mom passed away when Willie was 3 years old and she and her younger brother Roy were reared by her maternal grandparents, Samuel Patterson and Mattie Bell Doss Tompkins. Willie received her high school diploma from Forsyth Technical Community College. After 30 years service, Willie retired from JC Penney, Hanes Mall in 2007. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where she enjoyed her service as an infant child-care provider. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, grandparents, and two uncles. Survivors include Patterson Rowe Tompkins, her ""punkin"" of Winston-Salem, NC; a brother, Roy Edward (Elizabeth), of Bessemer, AL; a sister, Jo Ann Miller Fitch (Tommy) of Springville, AL; and several aunts and uncles: Dorothy Tompkins Butler, Ruby (Bill) Laughead; James (Judy) Tompkins, Minnie Tompkins Murray all of Jacksonville, AL; Allie Dean Tompkins of Kennesaw, GA; and Dr. Ernest W. Tompkins (Nickol) of Winston-Salem, NC. She is also survived by a host of very special first, second, and third cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009, at 10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM with Dr. Gary Chapman and Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. A later service and interment will be held in Jacksonville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Aunt Willie Memorial Fund at Calvary Baptist Day School, 5000 Country Club Road; Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
