Ms. Betty Ruth Flynt

Ms. Betty Ruth Flynt, 94, went to be with her heavenly father on September 25, 2023, following a short illness. She was born on April 24, 1929, to the late Henry Clay Flynt, Sr., and Cora Rachel Grubbs Flynt. Betty loved her church, First Baptist Church of Kernersville where she joined at 12 years old in 1941. She was a Sunday School Teacher for the children of Kernersville for many years. She was also responsible for the costumes for the Live Nativity for many years. She was very active with the girl’s youth at the church. Betty loved arranging flowers and sending cards to everyone to let them know she was always thinking of them. Many people knew Betty from the W.C. Stafford Store on Main Street in Kernersville, where she worked for 55 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 10 siblings, Joe Flynt, Bailey Flynt, Viola Peeples, Bertha Smith, Alna Neugent, Macy Spivey, James “Pete” M. Flynt. Ruby Lee Comer, Mary Ann Flynt, and Henry Flynt, Jr.

Surviving are many special nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 28, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Kernersville. Burial will follow in Providence Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM -10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church of Kernersville at 401 Oak Hurst Street Kernersville, NC 27284.
