Mrs. Tossie Mae Reynolds

Mrs. Tossie Mae Reynolds, daughter of the late William ""Tally"" and Alice Mae East Gaston was born on July 26, 1929 in Surry County. She graduated from JJ Jones High School in 1945. She was married to the late John Reynolds. Tossie retired form Spencers Inc. in Mt. Airy, and was a faithful member of Lovell's Chapel United Methodist Church. During her life she was a caregiver for four generation of citizens of Pilot Mountain, she not only cared for her own family but gave her time to many other families who needed help with their children, elderly parents and sick family members. She gave so much of herself to her church, friends, and family. Tossie's church was especially important to her. As a faithful member she served in many capacities; raising money for a building project; serving on a church board; preparing food for a church function. Tossie loved serving as an usher on Sunday mornings or at a funeral of a friend she was always there wearing her white uniform and white gloves. She was always there to listen to anyone who needed help or advice. Tossie would remind you, if she thought you had forgotten to say or do the right thing toward your fellow man. Tossie always kept up with the children she helped raise, it was important to her to know they were safe, happy, and doing well. In the last few years of her life, as her health failed, she had a host of friends and family that tried to return the kindness that she had extended to them over the years. Surviving to cherish her memory, one son, Timothy Reynolds of Winston-Salem, NC; two brother-in-laws R J (Phronie) Clark of Pilot Mountain, NC, Delano Reynolds of Greensboro, NC; six sister-in-laws Mary Ethel Martin and Geraldine Moore of Westfield, NC, Leona McArthur of Mount Airy, NC, Eleanor Foddrell of Stuart, Va, Gloria Scott of Virginia Beach, VA and Alice Reynolds of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
