Mrs. Ruth Marie Haas Hixon

Winston-Salem - Ruth Marie ""Ruthie"" Hixon, 86, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. The ninth of thirteen children, Mrs. Hixon was born in Bronx, NY on December 3, 1925 to Harry Samuel Haas and Maria Virginia Pereira. She completed three years of high school at Christopher Columbus High School. On December 15, 1946 she married George Robert Hixon at St. Francis de Chantal Church. Mrs. Hixon worked as a superintendent of a defense plant during World War II. Prior to moving to Winston-Salem, Mrs. Hixon resided in The Bronx, Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Stormville. Her interests included reading, cooking, telling stories, pets, and family.
