Annie Hill Alspaugh Hunter died on September 10, 2013. She was born in Clemmons, NC on August 22, 1918 to Annie Wharton Alspaugh and Samuel B. Alspaugh, Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County. She married Wesley C. Hunter, Jr. in 1941, and they were married for sixty-seven years until his death in 2008. She is survived by her son, David Hunter, daughter Janet Hunter Frenck and husband Bud, grandchildren Jennifer Hunter McDuffie and husband John, Eric Frenck and wife Alisa, Brian Frenck and wife Amy, great grandchildren Hunter and Nicholas McDuffie, Eleanore and Ian Frenck, and Liliana and Charlotte Frenck, her brother Eben Alspaugh and wife Rosa, and sister-in-law Betty Hunter Lawrence. Her brothers Samuel Alspaugh, Jr. and George Alspaugh and her daughter-in-law Judith Hunter are deceased. Many nieces, nephews and cousins will also cherish memories and ""Hill Moments."" Hill loved and stayed in touch with them, and she was a source of strength and history for her entire family. Hill graduated from Clemmons High School and from the commercial business course at Woman's College, now UNCG. She worked for Prudential Insurance until she was married when she had to resign because Prudential did not employ married women. She was ""Mrs. Hunter"" to thousands of children who passed through South Fork School between 1953 and 1976. She caught up with many of this group again when she worked at West Forsyth from 1978 until 1981. Thirty years after she retired almost any where she went in western Forsyth County someone came up with a smile and said, ""Hello, Mrs. Hunter."" Hill and Dub were always interested in their children and grandchildren, and they made a special effort to travel to tennis matches, soccer games, band concerts and other events that were important to their offspring. Hill loved people, the land where she grew up and lived, traveling, and Carolina Tar Heels basketball. She never said a harsh word about anyone except maybe a ref who called a foul on a UNC player. Hill was kind and at the same time, strong and determined to do what she thought to be right and to help other people. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 3PM at Clemmons Moravian Church with burial to follow at God's Acre. Hayworth-Miller, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC is handling arrangements. Memorials can be sent to Clemmons Moravian Church or to the charity of your choice.
