Mr. Roland David Morton

Mr. Roland David Morton, 61, of Kernersville, NC passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012. David was born May 31, 1950 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Roland Oliver and Lala McAbee Morton. He was a long time member of Heavenview Church where he was a trusted maintenance man and van driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Hobbs Morton. Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving brother, John Oliver Morton and wife, Betty of Lexington, NC, two nieces, Pamela Morton of Archdale, NC, Angela Morton Colbert and husband, Jeremy of Lexington, NC, a cousin, Bud McAbee of Spartanburg, SC and many extended family members. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, January 12 at Heavenview Church officiated by Rev. Harold Linder and Rev. W. E. Strout. Burial will in the Eastlawn Cemetery, Kernersville, NC. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Heavenview Church, 1410 W. Clemmonsville Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
