Richard Lee Fox, 81, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born October 19, 1931 to Kathleen Elizabeth Shore and William Conrad Fox, Sr. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He joined Wachovia Bank in 1957, and held a number of positions in lending, branch management and loan administration. In 1987, he retired from Wachovia as vice president and regional retail loan administration manager for the northwest region. He served as president of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Forsyth County, as president of Bethabara Historical Society, and as chairman of the board of trustees of Historic Bethabara Park. While living in Bethabara for over 30 years, he taught Sunday school and served as superintendent of Sunday school, vice-chairman of the church board and choir member in Bethabara Moravian Church. He was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church and a member of Olde Beau Golf Club in Roaring Gap. He had a rewarding second career as consulting editor and writer for Where to Retire magazine. With his wife, Betty, he authored two books on retiree relocation; Where to Retire in Florida and America's 100 Best Places to Retire. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Betty Jean Key Fox, a son, Alan Fox, and wife Karen of Houston, TX; a daughter, Amy Fox, of Winston Salem; a brother, William Conrad Fox, Jr. and wife Mary Evelyn of Roaring Gap; three sisters, Dorothy Andrews of Winston-Salem, JoAnn Lehman and husband Everett of Lewisville, and Kathy Martin and husband Doug (Bucky) of Marietta, GA; and two grandchildren, Christopher Fox and Emily Beauchamp. Funeral services will be conducted at New Philadelphia Moravian Church on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Worth Green officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday at New Philadelphia Moravian Church. Memorials may be made to Kate B.
