Mr. Perry Wenworth Godfrey, Sr.

Winston-SalemMr. Perry Wenworth Godfrey, Sr., 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Lexington Healthcare Center. He was born March 17, 1923 in Forsyth County to the late George Cleveland and Minnie Lawson Godfrey. Mr. Godfrey was of the Baptist faith. He loved people, always putting others first and never complained. Mr. Godfrey enjoyed swinging on his porch swing and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Preceding him in death was his wife, Stella Cranfill Godfrey, son, Perry W. Godfrey, Jr., and four brothers and two sisters. Surviving is a son, Miles Lawrence Godfrey and wife Bonnie; daughter-in-law, Becky Godfrey; two loving grandchildren, Brad and Mindy Godfrey; also surviving is a brother, Robert ""Bobby"" Godfrey and wife Linda. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Bobby Dishman officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington Healthcare Center for the care and support given to Mr. Godfrey.
