Mr. Gordon Cloyd Otey Jr., age 88 of Kernersville passed awayMonday, April 25, 2011. He was born January 5, 1923 in Montgomery County, Va. to Gordon Cloyd Otey Sr. and Bertha Ellen Moses Otey.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie Morris and a sister, Helen Kytchen.
Mr. Otey was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. He served in the US Army during WWII.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Ruth R. Otey of the home, one son Alan Otey and wife Sherry of Hurricane WV, two daughters Renee Morris and husband Paul of South Charleston WV and Pamela Pizzino and husband Gary of Kernersville, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pmWednesday, April 27, 2011 at New Hope Baptist Church with the Dr. Charles Carver officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to New Hope Guatemala Missions, P.O. Box 4027, Winston-Salem, NC 27115-4027.
