Mr. George William Wise, Sr.

Mr. George William Wise, Sr., 86, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born August 22, 1926 in Forsyth County to L.F. and Charity Kiser Wise. He retired from Modern Chevrolet with over 30 years of service. During that time he was the recipient of numerous awards and in 1986 was the top salesman in the Charlotte District of Chevrolet. Mr. Wise was a longtime member of Hillcrest Golf Club and a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII. He was a faithful member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church and was head usher for many years. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Luther, Thomas and Wilson Wise and by a sister, Doris Shepherd. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Betty Wise; a daughter, Patricia Spaugh and husband, Dan of Ridgeway Va.; a son, Bill Wise and wife, Laura of Elon, Va.; 2 grandsons, Jeff Spaugh and wife, Katie and Joshua Spaugh; a granddaughter, Jessica Wise; a great grandson, Liam Spaugh; a brother, James Wise and wife, Lorraine of Winston-Salem; a sister, Mary Pearce of Clemmons; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Burial will follow in the God's Acre. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
