Mr. George McIntosh Shelor

Winston-SalemMr. George McIntosh Shelor, 95, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Brookridge Retirement Community. He was born July 6, 1916 in Senaca, SC to the late George Warren and Cora McIntosh Shelor. Mr. Shelor was a charter member of Highland Presbyterian Church. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and retired from Western Electric. He was an avid golfer, bridge player, and volunteered at Baptist Hospital, Crisis Control and the Shepherd's Center. Preceding him in death was his wife, Gene Shelor and two brothers, Ryland and Archie Shelor. Surviving are a son, Robert Shelor and wife Jean of Atlanta and a daughter, Sandra Goodwin and husband, Bill of Raleigh; granddaughter, Wendi Crawford and husband, Ronnie; great-granddaughter, Shelby Elizabeth Crawford; also surviving is a niece, Joanne Shelor Gilley and a special friend, Virginia Carr. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Highland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Randy Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookridge Retirement Community 1199 Hayes Forest Dr. Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to Crisis Control Ministry Inc. 200 E. 10th St. Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
