Mr. Donald Carlyle Smith

KERNERSVILLE - Donald Carlyle Smith, Sr. 89, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Hospice of Rockingham County. He was born February 17, 1922 in Rockingham County to the late Ellis Preston and Alice Collins Smith. Donald was an active member of Moravia Moravian, and volunteered with Mobile Meals for 13 years. In Addition to his parents he was precede in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Edith Kirkman Smith. Surviving are; two sons, Donald Carlyle Smith Jr. and Johnny William Preston Smith, one daughter; Kathryn Vernon and husband Thurman, three grandsons; Donnie Vernon and wife Susan, Donald Carlyle Smith, III, Aaron Preston Smith, and a great grandson Jerry Vernon. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2011at Moravia Moravian by Rev. Russ Williams and Rev. Jack Thomas Nance. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
