Mr. Billy J. 'Bill' Bartlett

Mr. Billy J. ""Bill"" Bartlett, age 82, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, May 16, 2011. He was born September 17, 1928 in Roanoke, AL to the late Homer Ervin Bartlett and Nellie Eunice Tidwell Bartlett. Mr. Bartlett served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and the Omicron Delta Kappa Society. In 1983, Mr. Bartletett retired as a Certified Public Accountant and Partner with Deloitte Touche' (formerly Deloitte, Haskins and Sells). After retirement, Mr. Bartlett continued to work, providing accounting services to friends and family. He also served as treasurer for the Winston-Salem chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Mr. Bartlett loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing and traveling. Mr. Bartlett was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jayne Caston and a nephew, Donnie Bartlett. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Smith Bartlett of the home; five sons, Bill Bartlett and David Bartlett both of Blowing Rock, Tim Bartlett and wife Wendy of Winston-Salem, Norman Bartlett and wife Janet of Clemmons, and Daniel Bartlett and wife Melissa of Yadkinville; two brothers, Homer E. Bartlett, Jr. and wife Dot of Opelika Alabama, and Lewis ""Marty"" Bartlett and wife Mildred of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two sisters, Betty Faulkner and husband Knox Faulkner of Hoover, Alabama, and Peggy Wood and husband Dick of Newnan, Georgia; six grandchildren, Ethan Bartlett, Sara Bartlett, Luke Bartlett, Leah Bartlett, Jacob Wuwert, and Jessi Kate Bartlett; six nieces and nine nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 18, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel after a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
