KERNERSVILLE-Mozelle Slate Pyrtle, 89, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Piedmont Christian Home. She was born April 21, 1921 in Stokes Co. to the late Lee Andrew and Girlie Norman Slate. Mrs. Pyrtle was a member of Glenn View Baptist Church and retired from Hanes Hosiery. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Pyrtle; five brothers, J.W., Clarence, Jake, Ray and Cecil; three sisters, Etta Young, Novella Gordon, and Dillie Sapp. Surviving are her son, Jerry Odell Pyrtle and wife Dottie Little Pyrtle of Kernersville; a granddaughter, Teresa Moore and husband Tony of Gibsonville; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Lucas; a step-grandson, Mike Caudle; a step-granddaughter, Vikki Caudle Brandstetter; a step great-grandson, Sam Brandstetter; two sisters, Myrtle Cecil and husband Everette of High Point, Sudie Poole and husband Horace of Thomasville; one brother, Otis Slate and wife Lib of Greensboro; and a very special friend, Eula Ingram of Piedmont Christian Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Johnny Gupton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
