Monteese Webb

Monteese Webb, 55, of Lexington lost her fight against cancer in the early morning hours of August 23, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and went home to be with the Lord. At the appointed hour she was surrounded by her friends, her pastor and her family…all celebrating the passing of one of the most loving and compassionate people that ever lived. She was born October 14, 1954, the eldest child of the late Luther Alton Cox and Alvie Stone Cox Lawson. She is survived by her husband Stan; her sister Denise Waddell and husband Michael of Walkertown; a brother Alton Van Cox, also of Walkertown; a stepbrother, Chris Shore of Winston-Salem; a stepsister, Cathy Shore Crosby of Charlotte; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Alton; her stepmother, Sue Johnson Cox; and her nephew, Cody Cox. Mrs. Webb attended East Forsyth High School and was a graduate of the Davis Hospital School of Nursing in Statesville. She worked for Forsyth Medical Center as a Registered Nurse on their Mother Baby Unit for the past 33 years where she exhibited the same caring and compassion for her patients and her co-workers as she did for everyone else lucky enough to get to know her. She is a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, now residing in the Lord's congregation. The family will be available to greet our friends and well wishers at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 25. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 26 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastors Harold Fletcher and Ken Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 10th floor Reynolds Tower for all their compassionate care, the doctors and staff at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and our Hospice Nurse, Denise. We would also like to thank all our friends, our neighbors, and our church family for their prayers and support during her illness. May God bless you all. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Union Grove Baptist Church, 2295 Union Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27295 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
