Monroe Martin

Mr. Monroe Martin, 77, of Hamptonville, NC passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Martin was born October 22, 1935 in Murphy, NC to the late Wade and Bessie Graham Martin. Monroe was a member of Unaka Baptist Church in Murphy, NC and loved fishing and hunting. He was the Chief Shop Steward for Teamsters Local 391 and retired from Fairchild Industries after 27 years of service. Monroe and his wife Fallie owned and operated 421 Flea Market. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half- brother, Edward Martin, a sister, Shirley Martin and a half-sister, Joyce Martin; Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Fallie Scott Martin of the home; 3 sons; Virgil Martin and wife, Kyrun of Welcome, NC; Keith Martin of Walkertown, Darel Martin and wife Angie of Lexington, NC, 7 grand- children; a stepson; Mark Hiatt and wife, Lori of Mooresville, NC; two step daughters; Susan Burnett and husband John of Boone, NC, Belinda Bishop of High Rock Lake, NC, step mother, Jessie Martin of Lexington, NC, a step granddaughter, Lindsey Hiatt, two brothers; Clifton Martin and wife, Nell of Murphy, NC, Woodrow Martin and wife, Ruth of Welcome, NC, a half- brother, Glen Martin of Lexington, NC and several aunts, uncles and other family members in Murphy and Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, January 14 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, January 15 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel officiated by Roy Eddleman. A Graveside Service will follow in the Arcadia United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to friends, and loved ones for their support and prayers during Monroe's life.
