Winston-SalemMr. Monroe Troy Huie, 82, was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 31, 1928 in Wilkes County to the late Robert E. and Mamie Huie. Mr. Huie retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 38 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Huie was a loving husband and father and enjoyed woodworking. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Ruth Marie Huie; daughter, Kathy Everhart (Willie); son, Keith Huie (Gail); four step-children, Craig Neal, Zina Wilmoth (Randy), Jeff Neal (Leesa), and Michael Neal (Yvon); three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; also surviving are two sisters, Rosalee Barnette and Evelyn Hatcher and one brother, Fred Huie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Dowell Huie, one grandson, five sisters, and five brothers. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Bruce Freeman and Rev. Jon White officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
