KERNERSVILLE – Mona Kay Terrell, 74, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehab. Mona was born on July 30, 1950 in Forsyth County to the late Arthur “Ott” and Addie Montgomery Freeman. Mona was a 1968 graduate of East Forsyth High School and was awarded Business Student of the Year. She retired from Novant Health with over 45 years of service. Mona was a lifelong member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and loved her church family. Mona was married to her husband, Richard for 47 years, and shared in his love of shagging, along with camping and boating with their family. Mona and Richard had a unique, loving relationship - respecting and genuinely enjoying each other’s personalities and interests, while encompassing and balancing all aspects of life. Richard passed away in 2023 and using the words of Englebert Humperdinck, Mona found peace knowing Richard was still singing “after the lovin’, I’m still in love with you.”
Surviving are her daughter, Tracie Lee Ronchetti (John), her son, Chris Terrell (Patricia); one grandchild, Addie; a sister, Norma Freeman; and a special nephew, Johnny Rogers.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Phil Bauguess officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mona’s memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO BOX 22324, New York, NY 10087 (www.lls.org/ways-to-give)
