Mona Sorrell Darnell

Mrs. Mona Sorrell Darnell, 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at Trinity Glen. She was born September 24, 1920 in Durham County to Lloyd Adam and Mina Maynard Sorrell. Mrs. Darnell worked for R.J. Reynolds International as secretary to the president. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Johnson Darnell; and a sister, Arlyne Barnhill. Surviving are one daughter, Patricia D. Gray and husband William B. of Winston-Salem; one son, Leonard J. Darnell, Jr. of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Charles J. Gray and wife Jodie of Winston-Salem and Michael B. Gray and wife Stacy of Raleigh; four great grandchildren, Brandon, Austin, Jacob and Haley Gray. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 16 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
