Mittie Cooke White

KERNERSVILLE - Mittie Cooke White, 78, passed away Wednesday, January 04, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1933 in Montgomery Co. to the late James Arthur and Esther Mae Haywood Cooke. Mrs. White was a member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville for 52 years and had served in the nursery for several years. She was a volunteer at the Shepherd's Center in Kernersville. Mittie was dedicated to her family and always willing to help others. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Jesse J. White of the home; daughter, Monya White Garcia and husband Jaime of King; son, John White of Kernersville; grandson, James Garcia; two granddaughters, of Alabama; sister, Marjorie Sellers and husband, Bill; brother, Harvey Cooke and wife, Phyllis all of Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Kernersville with Dr. Stephen Martin and Rev. Paul Riggs officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private graveside service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 401 Oakhurst St., Kernersville, NC 27284 or Crisis Control Ministry, Inc., 431 West Bodenhamer St., Kernersville, NC 27284.
