Mitchell "Mike" Mathor Smith, Sr.

Mitchell “Mike” Mathor Smith, Sr. passed away September 4, 2023, at the age of 90. Mike was known locally for establishing TJ’s Deli, where he worked until his retirement at 88, when he was diagnosed with AML. He received excellent care from Dr. Daniel Reed and nursing staff at Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center, the staff of Trellis Supportive Care, and the staff at Vienna Village Assisted Living. Mike is survived by his wife of seventy years, Janet V. Smith; his four children, Mitchell Mathor Smith, Jr. (Rita), Mickie Bunch, Mindy Luck (Joe), and Melanie McCarthy (Amy). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Services will be held at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home, Lewisville, NC, on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., with the memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.  A graveside service will follow at Westlawn Garden of Memories, Clemmons, NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Trellis Supportive Care or Samaritan Ministries.
