Minnie "Jane" Edwards Barker

Minnie “Jane” Edwards Barker, 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.  Jane was born on June 10, 1941, in Forsyth County to the late Daniel Leo Edwards and Irene Forester Edwards. She pursued her nursing degree and worked as a nurse for many years, a field which her daughter and granddaughter followed her in. Once Jane started her family, she stayed home full time to care for her children and grandchildren.  Jane attended Currytown Baptist Church. She loved gospel music and enjoyed singing. She was very talented at sewing and quilting, and she excelled at making porcelain dolls. Jane and her husband Nevil loved to travel, and they especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Mississippi with close family and friends.  In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by five siblings; and a stepson, Keith Barker.  Surviving family includes her husband of 49 years, Nevil Riley Barker; children, Billy Barker (Leslie) and Tamara Gregory (Jody); two stepdaughter, Laura Shupe and Trisha Greene; nine grandchildren, Mandy Barker, Brian Barker, Tyler Barker, Ryan Schaffner, Riley Jackson, Brittany Barker, Luke Bowden, Caleb Barker and Currin Bowden; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Steve Edwards; and numerous extended family.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Currytown Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike McDaniels officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
