Savage, Minerva Yoos, of Chapel Hill, NC, died Thursday, August 12, 2010. Minerva was born on September 9, 1920 in Charlotte, NC to Lyda Basinger Yoos and Herman Robert Yoos. She married Robert Thomas Savage of Dayton, Ohio on August 8, 1942. Mrs. Savage was predeceased by her husband of 54 years; and by one son, Dennis Savage. She was also predeceased by one sister, Lyda Sellors, and two brothers, HR Yoos and David L. Yoos. Mrs. Savage is survived by four of her children, daughter, Carmen Savage Dixon and husband, Grady, of Richmond, VA, and their two children, son, Rob Dixon and wife, Jennifer of Palmyra, VA and daughter, Kristen Frago and husband, Jim, of Maidens, VA; Robert T. Savage, Jr. and wife, Betsy, of John's Island, SC and their three daughters, Andra Carlson and husband, Michael of Alpharetta, GA, Jennifer Hanson and husband, Ed of Charleston, SC and Jessica Savage of Charleston, SC; Michael Savage and wife, Mahi, of Annandale, VA and their two children, Michael Savage Jr. and wife, Sara, of Oakton, VA and daughter Katherine Savage and her fiancé©, Michael Lee of San Diego, CA; and Ronald Savage and wife, Tammy, of Chapel Hill, NC and their three daughters, Shelley Cheeseman and husband, Philip of Chapel Hill, NC, Samantha Savage of Malmo, Sweden, and Stacie Savage, of Chapel Hill, NC and granddaughter, Melissa Savage, daughter of Dennis Savage, of Charlotte, NC. Minerva was very proud of her great-grandchildren, Michael and Caroline Carlson of Alpharetta, GA; Patrick and Matthew Frago of Maidens, VA, and Olivia Savage of Chapel Hill, NC. She graduated from Charlotte Central High School. She attended Lenoir-Rhine College, NC and then Business School in Charlotte, NC. After marrying Bob Savage, she accompanied him on his tours of duty in the Army Air Corp. Later, she assisted him in accomplishing his dreams of college and Medical School at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. They were quite something as they began this journey with 3 small children under the age of six and lived in Victory Village, Chapel Hill, NC. On graduation, Minerva and Bob moved to Winston-Salem, NC for his Residency at City Hospital and then set up his medical practice there. They had two more children to complete the family. Minerva welcomed the challenge of Bob's desire to close his medical practice and go back to UNC to do a two year Residency in Anesthesiology. They moved back to Winston-Salem, NC where he worked at both Forsyth Memorial Hospital and Baptist Hospital. For the past two years, she has lived with her youngest son, Ron and his wonderful family in Chapel Hill and received the most loving care. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 13th at 7:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hearing House, 1403 Pemberton Rd.
