Milton "Milt" Goetz

Mr. Milton “Milt” Aloysius Goetz passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at the age of 89.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 18, 1931, to the late Milton Alois Goetz and Helen Marie Kelly Goetz.  Milt is survived by his wife, JoAnne Vannoy North Goetz; two daughters by a previous marriage, Suzanne Goetz of Schenectady, NY, and Molly Cahill (Michael), of Littlestown, PA and two grandchildren, Maggie and Aidan Cahill. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William of New York City, NY, and sister, Helen Johnson of Rumson, NJ.  Milt graduated high school from Poly Prep in Brooklyn in 1949, and college from the University of Michigan School of Business Administration in 1953.  At Michigan, he was Advertising Manager of The Michigan Daily and members of Sphinx (Junior Honor Society), Druids (Senior Honor Society), and the Chi Phi fraternity.  In 1971 he received his MS in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Upon graduation in 1953, he joined General Electric Company on the Business Training Course in Schenectady, NY.  Milt held financial and manufacturing positions with GE in Fort Wayne, IN.  In 1973 he was named Manager-Information Systems for GE Broadcasting and Cable vision Company in Schenectady and held that position until sale of the division in 1984.  That same year he joined Summit Communication in Winston-Salem, NC in the same capacity, married JoAnne in 1988, and moved with the business to Atlanta where he retired upon the sale of the company to Time Warner in 1995.  In 1999 Milt moved back to Winston-Salem.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
The world is a better place because Milt Goetz was in it, no matter the subject into it he did fit.
Bridge was his passion for many, many years, with a broken arm he could not hold the cards, I fear.
When someone asked how he was, his reply was “Never had a better day”.
Will I miss him? With all my heart you see, thankful in every way that 33 years with him I happened to be.
Goodbye my love into God’s arms you go now, when my time comes, I’ll join you somehow.
JoAnne treasures her 33 years spend enjoying the company of Milt Goetz.  A funeral service will be conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 24th at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.  Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, August 23rd at the funeral home.  In order to conform to the current CDC guidelines, we ask you wear your mask to both the visitation and the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WSFC RSP (Winston-Salem Forsyth County Retired School Personnel) – Rita Taylor scholarship fund, 3550 Stimpson Dr., Pfafftown, NC 27040.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
