Millison 'Millie' Bryant Taylor

KERNERSVILLE- Millison ""Millie"" Bryant Taylor, 90, died early Thursday morning, June 13, 2013. She was a resident at the Fitzgerald Health Center of the Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, NC. Born March 20, 1923 to the late Joseph Daniel and Essie Rose Bryant of Rich Square, N.C., she graduated from Rich Square High School and East Carolina Teacher's College, now East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. Mrs. Taylor retired after teaching in the North Carolina Public School System for over thirty (30) years. She took pride in her supportive role to her husband who was a United Methodist Minister and her family. She was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church in Kernersville, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty nine years, The Reverend Joseph M. Taylor, Jr.; a sister, Neva Garland; a brother, Robert Bryant; and two infant daughters, Betty Jo and Mary Carolyn Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Marian Yvonne Taylor of Kernersville; a son Timothy Hayes Taylor and daughter-in-law, Judy of Sharpsburg, Georgia; four grandchildren, James Matthew Dickens, Benjamin Andrew Taylor, Jennifer Lauren Stewart, Jacob Douglas Stewart; sister, Catherine Toner of Pineville, North Carolina; and two grand-dogs, Gracie Lou and Bailey. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, Kernersville with Rev. Ellis Rouse officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Taylor family. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Arbor Acres for their kindness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to Sedge United Methodist Church, 794 Sedge Garden Road, Kernersville, NC 27284 to be designated for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).
