Mr. Millard Faulkner, Jr., 94, of Winston- Salem passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at his residence. He was born to Millard Faulkner and Cooper Cummins Faulkner in Huron County, OH. Millard was a patriot and a Cincinnati Reds fan. Honorably serving in the US Navy during WWII, he was a first-hand witness to the surrender of Japan. He was often described by close friends and family as ""the best man I ever knew."" He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Neva Lane Faulkner, as well as one grandchild. Surviving are his son, Millard Claude ""Pete"" Faulkner; and daughters, Diane Faulkner Raymond, Barbara Chesnut, and Carol Hiers; as well as 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greater Things Outreach Center, P.O. Box 37, Welcome, NC 27374.
