Miles Elbert Colbert

Mr. Miles Elbert Colbert, 73, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 15, 1936 in Wilkes County to William A. and Fay Hamby Colbert. Mr. Colbert loved electronics; photography; loved to make jokes; liked eating out with his brother; and loved model railroad trains. He was a member of Robinhood Road Baptist Church, and he served four years in the U.S. Air Corps. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Colbert; and two sisters, Frances Goldsmith and Gloria Taylor. Surviving are three daughters, Sherry Colbert, Donna Butner and husband Tim, Susan Colbert and fianc郩 David Long, all of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Juanita LaMay of Virginia, and Doloris Eberly and husband Dutch of Maryland; four grandchildren, Josh Colbert, Alex Butner, Andrew Butner, and Nathan Abbott. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 5 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Ken Paige and the Rev. Bob Jeune officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday following the service.
