KERNERSVILLE-Mildred ""Gaga"" Mason Witt, 92, formally of Danville, VA, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her, walked into the arms of Jesus, Monday evening, October 17, 2011. She was born August 25, 1919 in Farmville, VA to the late Richard Karney and Octavia East Mason. Mrs. Witt resided in Kernersville for 27 years, where she was a member of First Christian Church of Kernersville and formally a member of Keen Street Baptist Church in Danville, VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Witt; son, James E. Witt; grandson, Kevin Mills; great-grandson, Justin Martin; brother, Richard Mason; two sisters, Tootsie Bowman and Lena Witt. Surviving are her two daughters, Peggy Branson of Winston Salem and Patsy Mills of Danville, VA; eight grandchildren, Kim Francis and partner, Joe Newman, Cindy Davis and husband, Ricky all of Kernersville, Teresa Francis of Winston Salem, Tracy Pegram and husband, Bobby of Stokesdale, Donna Sparks and partner, Darren Witt, Susan Bean and husband, Robert and Bonnie Hunt all of Danville, VA; nine great-grandchildren, Amanda Gottfried and husband, Jeff, Angie Newman and husband, Joe Jr., Robb Bean, Heather Martin, Holly Martin, Andrew Pegram, Dylan Sparks, Kamryn Pegram, and Daniel Witt; three great-great grandchildren, Abigal Gottfried, Adrianne Gottfried, and Chloe Newman; two sisters, Susie Williams of Richmond, VA, and Doris Witt of Farmville, VA. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, October 21, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:30 pm following the service at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the funeral home and at other times at 2717 Fairidge Dr., Kernersville. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
