Mildred Smith Williard

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Mildred Smith Williard, 87, of Lorraine Drive, Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living, after a long battle with Alzheimers. Mildred was born on October 25, 1925 in Forsyth County to the late Ivey and Diana Smith. Mildred was a long time, beloved member of Saint's Delight Primitive Baptist Church. She and her husband, Ben, owned and worked the family farm in Sedge Garden. She was also a loving homemaker for her husband and children. Mildred graduated from Sedge Garden High School. She enjoyed farming, gardening and sports. She loved her family and enjoyed caring for them. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Williard, in 1988; and a sister, Hilda Smith. Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Patricia (Larry) Lineback of Winston-Salem, Steve (Ginny) Williard of Winston-Salem, and Candy (Rod) Reston of Orange Park, FL; one sister, Carolyn (Reid) Davis; one brother, Dumont (Finch) Smith; nine grandchildren, Chris & Brad Williard, Kristina Myers, Zach Warden, Cindy Rothrock, Jana Yokeley, Rodney, Doug and Jared Reston; and 14 great grandchildren, Ben, Megan & Jake Williard, Gavin Myers, Brandon & Callie Rothrock, Hunter, Lindsey & Jordan Smith, Jackson Mills, Zinnia Reston, Preston Staples, and Fletcher & Gunnar Reston; and close family friends Archie & Virginia McNamara. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 23, 2013 at Saint's Delight Primitive Baptist Church with Elder E.W. Hooven and Elder David Hogan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, August 22, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
