Mildred Irene Newman Ward

WARD Winston-Salem Mrs. Mildred Irene Newman Ward, 80, of Doris St., passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. She was born on April 1, 1930 in Surry County to the late Alford Russell and Dora Tilley Newman. Irene was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Irene was devoted to her children and family who will truly miss her love and affection. Irene was preceded in death by a grandchild, Tyler Ward and two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Robert Gene Ward; four children, Randy and wife Cindy of South Carolina, Dale and wife Kathy of Walnut Cove, Diane Ward of Tobaccoville, Dean and wife Tracy of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Chad, Travis, Robbie, Wesley, Amanda, Lindsay, Dylan, Trevor and Zoe; nine great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Gene Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Airy, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
