Mildred Gilchrist Myers, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at The Oaks at Forsyth. She was born March 9, 1921 in McCormick Co., SC to the late William Robert Gilchrist and Sarah Elizabeth McCord. Mrs. Myers graduated from Montreat College. She was an active member of Clemmons First Baptist Church and the Extension Homemakers Club. A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 67 years, Claude James Myers; three children, James Myers and wife Teresa of Winston-Salem, Carol Myers Louie and husband Kevin of San Francisco, Jean Myers of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Louie; sisters Marie Jallings, Rae Testa and husband Leon, sister-in-law Mary Frances Gilchrist, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters Kathleen Harling and Helen Perry and brothers Edward, Robert, and Bernard Gilchrist; A funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM Friday, October 22 at Clemmons First Baptist Church with Dr. Robby Phillips officiating. A burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, October 21 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. A special thank you from the family to the staff of The Oaks at Forsyth.
