Mildred M. Martin, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away on April 8, 2011 at Salemtowne, the Moravian Retirement Community. She was born in Forsyth County on July 24, 1922. Mildred was married to the late Douglas Purdum Martin, Sr. She is survived by one son, D.P. Martin, Jr. and wife Kathy; one daughter, Barbara M. Harris and husband Steve; four grandchildren, Scott, Ashley, Jason and Jenny; three great grandchildren, Emma, Charlie and Peyton. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her love of gardening was admired by all. In her younger years she was an active member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. James W. Demby and the Rev. Linda Browne officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday one hour prior to the service.
