Mildred Kesling Kidd

KERNERSVILLE - Mildred Kesling Kidd, 89, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born June 20, 1923 in Pulaski Co., VA to the late Charles Henry and Mamie Tabor Kesling. Mildred was a very strong lady who was a single mom and worked extremely hard her entire life. She loved to grow flowers but especially she enjoyed cooking for her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel ""Sonny"" Roope; her second husband, Robert ""Buck"" Kidd; two brothers, James E. Kesling and Ralph Kesling. Surviving are her daughter, Betty Ann Brandis and husband, Keith of Kernersville; one son, Roger Kesling and wife, Diane of Tallahassee, FL; a sister, Lois Gibbs of Eastpointe, MI; four grandchildren, Benjamin Brandis, Brad Rector, Kim McFarland, and Kathy Barrett; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery in Pulaski, VA. A Special thanks to her doctors, Judith Hopkins and Marc Slatkoff; also Mildred appreciated the staff at Kate B.
