KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Mildred Daniel Hill, 86, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mildred was born on June 1, 1928 in Hapeville, Georgia to Claire Stewart Daniel and Dee Daniel. She attended Hapeville High School and Georgia State University. She met Justin W. Hill, husband, when he was visiting her church, during his military service in 1948. They married in Hapeville, Georgia on June 23, 1950. She shared her love of learning with her students at Lakewood Heights in Atlanta, GA and Heard School in Macon, GA. Mildred's love for books was evident in her work with many church libraries including: First Baptist Church, Florence, AL; Memorial Baptist Church, Norwood, NC; and First Baptist Church, Albemarle, NC.
Her legacy and memory will live on in the lives of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Justin W. Hill, Jr.; two sons, Roger B. Hill and Stephen J. Hill; four grandchildren, Melonie Hill Plotkowski, Leslie Hill Wannamaker, Brian Hill and Krystle Hill Curran-Fahy; her nieces and nephews, David, Paul, and Deborah Garrard, Andy and Bill Page; her great grandchildren, Addison Plotkowski, Caleb Plotkowski, Allen Justin Wannamaker, James Wannamaker, and two more on the way.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Main Street Baptist Church in Kernersville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A second memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Albemarle, where the family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A family graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
We will always remember her patience and kindness and her gentle voice as she guided us and read us stories. Her loving spirit will continue to speak to us and walk with us even though she is no longer here to hold our hands.
