Mildred Maye Guerin, age 101, passed away on Thursday, April 15, at the Kate B. Reynold's Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born November 15, 1908 in Bentonville, Virginia to the late Walter Eugene Maye and Ada Irene Lawson Maye. Mrs. Guerin was a highly proactive supporter of the Eye Bank of North Carolina and served a term as President of this organization. She was also a long time and active member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Matthew Guerin. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mr and Mrs George William Young of Raleigh, N.C., and granddaughter Tracy Young Carrington also of Raleigh. The family would like to thank the staff at both Brian Center of Winston-Salem as well as The Kate Reynold's Hospice Home for the excellent care giving Mrs Guerin received during her stays at their facilities. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 1:00 pm. at Parklawn Memorial Park at 2730 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Kate B. Reynold's Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 (www.hospicecarecenter.org).
