KERNERSVILLE - Mildred 'Snook' Perdue Echols, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. She was born on May 17, 1923 in Forsyth County to the late Clay and Hallie Bull Perdue. 'Snook' had a servant's heart and her spiritual gift was the gift of 'helps'. She spent much of her life serving others in their time of need. 'Snook' was a great blessing to her family and friends. In addition to her parents, 'Snook' was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Stuart and four brothers, Herbert, James 'Flea', Bobby and Donald Perdue. Surviving are a son, Jerry 'Punk' (Gwen) Echols of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Lynda 'Twinkle' Williams of Kernersville; seven grandchildren, Kelly and Mark Echols, Paige Batten, Joy Petty, Amy Park, Joe Walls and Chris Williams; and 19 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Kernersville Friends Meeting. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:45 p.m. in the Church Fellowship Hall. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
