Milas Avery Hilton

KERNERSVILLE-Milas Avery Hilton, 93, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Britthaven of Kernersville. He was born December 23, 1915 in Mecklenburg Co. to the late Milas Monroe and Vergie Helms Hilton. Mr. Hilton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Greensboro. He was a United States Army veteran having served in WWII. Avery loved baseball, he was an avid Yankee's fan, and he also supported the Greensboro minor league baseball team. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and bingo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Howell Hilton; a son, Barry Hilton; four sisters and four brothers. Surviving are his son, Charles Hilton and wife Anna of Kernersville; two grandchildren, Christina and Thomas. A funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Richard Buffkin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Richard D. Auten officiating, 6230 Beatties Ford Rd., Charlotte, NC 28216. Memorials may be made to East Forsyth Football Team, 2500 W. Mountain St., Kernersville, NC 27284.
