Mike Gerasimos Konstantopoulos of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on May 3, 2020. Mike was born on November 4, 1941 in Pyrgos, Greece. He was the youngest of 10 children born to Georgia and Harry Konstantopoulos. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Andree (Varazo) and his 2 daughters Joanne and Michelle, his sister Sia Booros (Harry) of Pensacola and brother John (Demetra) of Greece. Also surviving him are sisters-in-law Steffie Joiner (Pat), Sia Stanton (Spero), Sia Konstantopoulos (Aristos), god son and nephew Gregory Joiner (Ashley; Madison and Ben) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the US and Greece. “Pops” will also be greatly missed by his faithful canine Tinkerbell – his ever-loving baby, and two grand dogs, Sparkle and Lilah
Mike was honorably discharged from the Greek army. He was an electrician by trade and moved to Pensacola in July 1966 to be near his family. He was employed by Webb Electric. Mike also had a passion for cooking and in 1979 moved to Winston-Salem and became a successful businessman having owned 4 restaurants.
He loved playing backgammon, poker and had several trophies for his pool playing talents. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and watching professional wrestling, which annoyed his wife. He also enjoyed fishing and vacations with his family. One of his favorite pass times was telling jokes. He always had new ideas and plans for any problem. He was dedicated to his Orthodox religion and was proud of his Greek heritage and loved Greek music, especially the bouzouki. Mike had a kind heart (almost to a fault) and often do things to help others in need and was looked up to like a second dad by many. Mike will be deeply missed and always remain in our hearts.
