Mr. Michal Vasica, 73, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020. Michal was born in the village of Padina in the Former Yugoslavia to the late Marci and Zuzana Sajben Vasica on August 2, 1946. At a young age, Michal escaped with his family from communist oppression into a refugee camp in Italy. God made a way to immigrate to the United States where Michal enjoyed a life of blessings, surrounded by a crowd of family and loved ones who were nourished by his loving, kind and nurturing spirit. When Michal came to the United States, he became a jack of all trades and did everything possible to support his family. Along with his parents, he was preceded by a daughter, Sonya Brooks; brother, Palo Vasica; and sister, Anna Ponjican. Michal is survived by his son, Michal Vasica (Lorna); two daughters, Angel; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers: John Vasica (Milanka), Andrej Vasica (Eva), and Martin Vasica; a sister, Zuzana Todorovic; and many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted in his honor at Westlawn Gardens of Memory, officiated by Pastor Harold Linder. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heavenview United Pentecostal Church, 1410 W Clemmonsville Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
