Mr. Michael “Mike” Grady Coe, 68, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at his residence. He was born on April 22, 1952 in Davidson County to Grady Coe and Martha Jones Coe. Mike was very involved in the revitalization of downtown Winston-Salem. He was the first to remodel an old building and put in a restaurant, coffee shop, and retail space with apartments upstairs. Mike supported the Downtown Arts District in many ways. He was nicknamed the Mayor of Trade Street and his wife, Patricia, called him “Big Daddy” because he was always trying to take care of someone. Mike owned Coe Electric & Plumbing Inc. & Sink Plumbing & Electric Co. and was still actively involved. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dalton “Doc” Coe and Grover Coe. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Coe; daughter, LeeAnn Coe Jones of Winston-Salem; grandson, Fletcher Jones, whom he referred to as his hero; and sisters, Juanita Smith of High Point and Pat Key of Colorado Springs, CO. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Holly Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Pittman officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
