Michael "Mike" Jessup

Mr. Michael “Mike” James Jessup, 65, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Forsyth County to Barbara Needham Jessup and the late James Robert Jessup. He is survived by this loving wife, Kathy Sproles Jessup; two children, Sarah Splawn (Matt) and Hannah Yoon (Joe); four grandchildren, Abe Splawn, Ezra Splawn, Roman Yoon, and Evie Maeve Yoon; and mother, Barbara Needham Jessup. Mike was a loving, devoted, loyal and faithful servant, son, husband, father, Pa and friend. In his free time you would find him on the golf course on a lake or river fishing and kayaking. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping with his family and friends. Mike was a graduate from North Carolina State University and later received a double Masters. Mike, battled leukemia for almost 5 years, and fought hard but he never let that stop him from doing the things that he loved the most. He fought the good fight, kept his faith, and has now won his prize which is with his Heavenly Father in eternity. His strong faith has greatly impacted his family and all who knew him. He will be forever loved and missed, but we rejoice and take comfort in knowing that he is with Jesus. We will be honoring and celebrating his life on Sunday, January 15th, 2023, 3:00 PM at Poplar Springs Christian Church with Pastor Don Wallace and Ralph Sproles officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, January 15th, 2023, at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Poplar Springs Christian Church, 7120 NC 66 HWY South, King, NC, 27021 or the Leukemia Foundation.
