Michael (Mick) Patrick Sekelsky, 53, unexpected passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, in Winston Salem, NC. He was born on May 2, 1959 in Groton, CT to Navy Chief Michael Martin and Ann Dolan Sekelsky. As a child of a Navy Chief, Mick was offered the adventure and and opportunity of living in some fascinating places such as Key West, FL and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The family later made Ogdensburg, NJ their home . While there, Mick attended Franklin High School in Sussex County, NJ and was actively involved in about every extracurricular activity that the school offered. He moved to NC as part of the RJR/Nabisco merger. It was here that he met the love of his life, Laura Poindexter. Mick graduated from High Point University. At the time of his death, he was employed as an IT manager at Inmar. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he facilitated a Bible study program and taught elementary Sunday School for a number of years. Mick was genuine in character, always putting others before himself. He was an instant friend to everyone that he met, staunchly devoted to his family, and had the rare quality of seeing the good and promise in everyone. He loved and was loved dearly. He will be missed more than words can express. Mick was preceded in death by his father and his infant son, Noble Poindexter Sekelsky. He is survived by his mother Ann; his devoted wife of 20 years, Laura Poindexter Sekelsky; sons Michael Patrick Sekelsky II and Charles Maxwell (Max) Sekelsky; mother-in- law Gladys McManaway Poindexter; brothers Thomas Sekelsky and wife Susan, Andrew Sekelsky and fiancé, Carmela Marsilla, James Sekelsky , wife Julie, and their children Kyle, Hannah, and Alec; brothers-in-law Edwin Poindexter, wife Susan, and their children Justin and Erin, and Alan Poindexter and his girlfriend Sue Burkhart. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday , January 17, 2013 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston Salem. The family will greet friends and relatives immediately following the church service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Michael P Sekelsky Memorial Fund, 2526 Lewisville Clemmons Road, Clemmons, N.C. 27012 or any Wells Fargo Branch for the benefit of his sons' education, or to your favorite charity.
