Michael Powell

Michael Lee Powell “Mike”, 80, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 after a short illness. Mike was born on August 8, 1940 in Burke County to the late Joel Lewis Powell and Iva Edna Michaels Powell. Mike served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from General Dynamics as an Electronics tester after 21 years of service. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joel Lewis Powell, Jr. and Jason Powell and a sister, Martha Hardin. Surviving are his wife, Beverly; two sons, Richard Powell and Allen Powell (wife Patricia) and a grandson, Nicholas. Also surviving are his two brothers, Thomas Powell and William David Powell; a sister, Mary Spewachek and numerous nieces and nephews. The Powell family would like to thank the nurses and Doctors at Novant Health for their care and compassion for Mike. There will be no formal services at this time.
