Michael Wayne Norris

Michael Wayne Norris passed away on October 6, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born on April 27, 1958 to Roland Lee Norris and Doris Gray Norris in Johnston County. Mike proudly served his country as an Army Ranger. Following his military service, he worked for the City of Winston-Salem's Inspection Division and retired with 30 years of service. Mike was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for 5 years. Mike was a generous man who enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. His friendly smile and kind words will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Lynn Yates Norris; daughter, Amber Kelly (Jimmy); granddaughter, Abby; sister, Pam Hodges (Jerry); and ""adopted family,"" Amy and Kenny Plemmons, Alexis, Kate, and Logan. A graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Mr. Wayne Gilley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Ladies' Ministry, 1505 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012; or to Military Missionary Wade Smith, 1140 Birnam Woods Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
