Mike Lynch of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025. Mike was born in Winston-Salem on October 15, 1946, to the late Fred Davis Lynch and Lydia Sue Lynch. He attended North Forsyth High School and graduated from Wake Forest University in 1969. Mike met the love of his life, Virginia Lynch, while at North Forsyth. They were married on September 7, 1968, while Mike was at Wake Forest University. While at Wake Forest, Mike developed a passion for Wake Forest sports that always served as a topic of family discussion. Following Wake Forest, Mike enrolled in the Air Force and was an air traffic controller stationed in Panama City, Florida. While in Florida, Virginia gave birth to their first born, Chad Lynch. Following time in the service, they returned to Winston-Salem. Shortly thereafter, Virginia had their second child, Todd Lynch. Mike and Virginia both worked at Brannock-Lynch Lumber Company for 25 years, where they made life-long friends. They would often ride to and from work together, go to lunch together and their desks were never more than 20 feet from each other. It was truly an amazing relationship. Shortly after retirement, Virginia was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Mike was graciously her primary caregiver until her passing in 2019. During Mike’s battle with dementia, he often expressed his desire to be back with Virginia. There is a certain peace in knowing they are together again.
Mike is survived by his sons, Chad Lynch (wife Zamara, kids Connor and Mathias) and Todd Lynch (wife Jaime, kids Davis and Eva). He also leaves behind his sister, Gilda Lynch, and her husband Chuck. Also surviving is Virginia’s brother, Randy Brannock (wife Kathy, kids Travis and Jessica).
