Michael Harrold

Mr. Michael Richard Harrold, 41, of Winston-Salem, left his Earthly home on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Michael was born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 19, 1976, to Samuel Harrold and the late Barbara Carlino Harrold. In addition to his mother, Michael was preceded in death by sisters, Jill Slovak and Lori Harrold; and a special brother-in-law, Tom Callen. In addition to his father, Michael is survived by his wife, Jordan Harrold; one son, Caleb Harrold; one brother, John Slovak (Watanna); one sister, Julie Callen; nieces, Chastity, Jessica, Jenna, and Jamie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Homer and Kim Craig; sister-in-law, Lora Jones (Brad); a lifelong best friend, Kevin Finch; and his beloved pets, Sherman, Cally, Harley, and Levi. Michael will be remembered best by the way his son, Caleb, described him. He was a lego building, playtime before bed, stinky tooter, video game playing, and fixer and builder of anything. Michael was known in many circles for his big laugh, sarcastic humor, and love of The Ohio State University Buckeye sports. He could be found talking about the Simpsons with his brother and playfully provoking his sister, sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, nieces, and anyone else who would allow it, including his coworkers. He loved his wife Jordan fiercely, supporting her no matter her goals. He understood that love came easy, but marriage required intentional work and choices. He not only understood this but practiced it daily. Michael often said the best thing he ever did was having Caleb. He raised him to know it's ok to have emotions, to respect others, to have awkward humor, to apologize when you are wrong, to give grace when you've been wronged, and to be yourself and never give up. Also, to accept others as they are and to help other people. Michael's family is asking for everyone to focus on these things. Please join the family in celebrating Michael's life and his legacy at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. There will be no formal visitation but the family does invite you to offer condolences at a later time. The family has set up an account for Michael's beloved son, Caleb.
