Col. Michael G. Cheston, USMC, Ret. passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born August 9, 1953 in Aarhus Denmark to Elliott Burwell Cheston and Anne Robinson Cheston.  Col. Cheston’s career centered around aviation, security and the US Marine Corps (28 years).  In retirement he volunteered his talent as a private pilot with the Winston Salem Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol and his security expertise with Crisis Consulting International.  He was an amazing husband, father and child of God whom we will miss for the rest of our days. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laurie Wesely; two sons, Ken Cheston and Geoff Cheston (Kristina); one sister, Sandy Doyle (Pat); one brother, Randy Cheston (Janice) and “arctic buddy”, Dan Lund (Denise).  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Clemmons Presbyterian Church by Rev. Jodi Lingan.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  Col. Cheston will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington VA. at a later date. The family wishes to thank the compassionate care that was provided by both his Wake Forest oncology team and Trellis supportive care.
