Michael Alexander Carcieri

Mr. Michael Carcieri of Advance, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 13 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 1730 Link Road, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends for a celebration of life service at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC on Friday, June 12 at 6:00 pm. Mike was born September 20, 1947 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of Michael Carcieri Sr. and Josephine Spinella. He graduated from Classical High School in 1965 and the University of Rhode Island in 1970. He was a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified welding engineer and made a successful career in steel fabrication in Pennsylvania, Texas, Arkansas, and North Carolina. For the last several years he served as the Executive Vice President of Production at Lyndon Steel, where he had many fine friends. He officiated soccer for 25 years at all levels, from youth to college, for which he received a Dick Knox Distinguished Service Award. He was honest and he was fair. He loved his family, his work, the movies, baseball, and Italian food. His generosity was known to all. He was as good a man as any, and better than most. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his mother Josephine Carcieri of North Providence, R.I.; his beloved wife of 45 years, Mary Jane (Midge); his three children Stephen, John and Elizabeth (Beth) and their spouses Alexandra, Elisha, and Demetrios Kassapakis; his grandchildren Leo Carcieri, Josephine Kassapakis, and Michael Carcieri; his sister Eleanor Robinson of North Providence, R.I.; and twin sister Michele Gemma of Peoria, AZ and her husband Bernie. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and by his sister Beverly Perrotti of Fort Worth, TX.
